Spoken Word
The sister sent me that Sarah Kay TED talk, and I was hooked. Poetry, in my mind, was suddenly redefined from something that once had rules to something that didn’t have any rules any more, just a lot of emotion, connection and delight.
Why Spoken Word?
The reason I do, and care about spoken word poetry. My sister opened the tap by recommending this to me, and it's been flowing wonders ever since.
To This Day, In All That This Has To Offer
Probably the greatest piece of poetry-art out there. The words strike you deep in your heart and the pictures leave behind a permanent mark right where the words struck. This is a PSA, a cry, a yell and a call to action.
To Care Or Not To Care
The tragedy of transience. Almost a poem, but poetic enough.
Joy
About what really matters. He's fifteen, and he's a true poem-story-teller.
And You Thought You Were Obsessed?
One of the best poems ever performed.
The Stairway Of Heaven Of Spoken Word
This one's for you.
My Favorite Poem
Have a little patience with this one, it'll be worth the wait.
Slash
This one's long but I love the way he slashes everything together.
Turn On A Light
More Shane Koyczan. He graphic novels this one and just keeps making you cry.
It took me years to take the courage to write my own poetry, and almost a year before I actually got the courage to perform it. Still finding the courage to share it on here, but if you are genuinely curious, you might find something on the world wide web (that’s not very good).
